The monuments of Sardinia and the Lego world are coming to Cagliari. From April 24th to May 14th, the Sala Search at the Palazzo Civico on Via Roma will host the "Brick Art Exhibition," an exhibition by artist Maurizio Lampis featuring over 50 works, including architecture, symbols, and characters.
The event was presented this morning at City Hall, where a Lego painting of Valentino Rossi kissing his Yamaha in an iconic moment from 2004 was also on display. "The City of Cagliari is delighted to host this exhibition because it believes in the value of culture, knowledge, and social interaction. Lego bricks serve an audience ranging from children to families, but also adults. It's a way to build the present and imagine the future," explained City Council President Marco Benucci.
Culture Councilor Maria Francesca Chiappe said: "There's a tremendous amount of work behind these works: the Valentino Rossi painting took weeks. We'll also be exhibiting a signed bust of Gigi Riva. It's certainly an opportunity to showcase our monuments, which will be reproduced in Lego in the Search space. We've recently been using the room for exhibitions, which have been very successful."
Artist Maurizio Lampis, at his 76th exhibition, emphasized: "There will be unique representations of paintings, artists, and famous people, such as Valentino Rossi. I'm proud to be able to exhibit for the first time in my city. I will bring 20 Sardinian monuments and some of the most famous in the world." The exhibition will be open daily with free admission. The opening, which will feature a performance by "The Voice Kids" winner Matteo Trullu, will be held at 6:30 PM on April 24th and reservations are required. From the following day, admission will be free, including holidays.
