Great music returns to the heart of Cagliari with the new spring edition of the "Concerts at Palazzo Regio" event , curated by the cultural and musical association "Ennio Porrino" . It starts on March 23rd with the opera concert “Talking about Puccini with famous opera arias – Timeless opera arias to remember Giacomo Puccini 100 years after his death” which the soprano Elena Schirru and the pianist Andrea Cossu will perform at 7pm, with a repertoire of pieces by the great Italian composer who died in 1924.

The event includes the proposal of a rich program that will involve various artists and musical ensembles of high professional level with the performance of repertoires of the classical, popular, traditional, modern and contemporary genre, also with arrangements of songs from the musical heritage of Sardinia, interpreted with ensembles and styles of particular involvement and sonic impact.

For several years now, the Ennio Porrino Association of Elmas has chosen to stage part of its annual concert production in the historic Cagliari Palace which from 1337 became the seat of the viceroy by will of Peter of Aragon. The choice of the location of Palazzo Regio allows us to enhance a prestigious historical place in Cagliari, whose architectural elements, furnishings and frescoes represent an important artistic heritage, giving the public the significant opportunity to enjoy the historical and artistic beauties of the capital through a perfect interaction between music, culture, art and history. The next musical events are scheduled between April and June 2024 with concerts that will range between different authors, ensembles, genres and styles.

On 28 April 2024 at 7pm the narrative-musical event in the Sardinian language "Cantus e fueddus po arregordai sa die de sa Sardigna" will be proposed which will see the protagonists Francesca Loche (voice), Irene Loche (guitar), Michele Brandinu (piano) and Marta Proietti Orzella (reciting voice). The initiative aims at a historical re-enactment of the period in which the Piedmontese moved away from Cagliari. It will continue on 10 and 12 May with the concert "Today's music - Today's music in musical paths without borders" which will feature the Serendip Group with Alice Madeddu (vocals), Eva Pagella (vocals), Sergio Calafiura (vocals), Manuel Cossu (vocals and piano) and Fabio Useli (guitar and electric bass). On May 10th the concert will be offered as a matinee (starting at 11am) and will be aimed exclusively at schools, while on May 12th it will be aimed at the entire public in general and will start at 7pm.

On May 26, 2024 at 7 pm the concert "Voci in armonia - Musical journey with the magic of voices in choir" will be held by the Polyphonic Group "La Corale" of Siurgus Donigala directed by maestro Felice Cassinelli. “La Corale” is a vocal ensemble composed of only female voices who have been carrying out their musical activity since 1991 with the aim of disseminating and promoting music, with particular attention to the culture and musical traditions of Sardinia. The proposed repertoire will range from pop to gospel and from modern to traditional and popular Sardinian music. The last concert event of the spring season will be on June 2, 2024 at 7 pm with the concert “Classic Music – Musical itineraries from Austria to England” held by the Ensemble Trame Sonore with Francesca Viero (oboe), Oleysa Emelyanenko (violin), Salvatore Rea (viola), Karen Hernandez (cello). A classical musical repertoire will be proposed which will range from musical pieces by Franz Joseph Haydn, Benjamin Britten and Malcom Arnold.

The “Concerts at Palazzo Regio” event is promoted by the “Ennio Porrino” Musical Cultural Association of Elmas, with the contribution of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, Department of Education and Entertainment and the Foundation of Sardinia and in collaboration and with the patronage of Metropolitan City of Cagliari, as part of the “Sounds and Voices for the Island” project and the production, distribution and concert circulation that the Association is carrying out in Sardinia in 2024, whose Artistic Direction is by Maestro Ignazio Perra.
