Peter Erskine arrives in Cagliari and is great music for the program of Forma e Poesia nel Jazz. Exceptional finale, this evening, Tuesday 16 November, for the triptych of concerts proposed at the Bflat as an appendix to the twenty-fourth edition.

An apt co-production between the Bflat of the Patron Marco Tullio Coco and the jazz festival directed by Nicola Spiga that brings an authentic drum icon back to the city, a name that appears in something like seven hundred titles between albums, about fifty of which as leader or co -leader, and soundtracks, and which refers to historical groups such as the Weather Report and the Steps Ahead, just to mention two of the many experiences that dot his vast curriculum, where there are also as many Grammy Awards.

The American drummer lands in Sardinia at the head of the trio in his name which deploys Alan Pasqua on the piano and Darek Oles on the double bass.

Two sets scheduled at 8.30pm and 10pm.

THE ARTIST - Born in New Jersey in 1954, Peter Erskine has been playing drums since the age of four and is known for his versatility and predisposition to work in different musical contexts; this is certified by the long and varied list of artists and formations with which he has played: the big bands of Stan Kenton (with whom he began his career in 1972) and of Maynard Ferguson, Joni Mitchell, Steely Dan, Diana Krall, Kate Bush, Jan Garbarek, Kenny Wheeler, the Brecker Brothers, the Yellowjackets, Pat Metheny and Gary Burton, John Scofield, Freddie Hubbard, Joe Henderson, Chick Corea, Bill Frisell and Marc Johnson in the Bass Desires group, Bobby Hutcherson, Joe Farrell and John Abercrombie, as well as to Weather Reports and Steps Ahead. But not only: Peter Erskine has in fact appeared as a soloist with classical ensembles such as the London Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Ensemble Modern, Frankfurt Radio, Scottish Chamber, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Royal Opera House, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Oslo and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, among the others. He also premiered the concert for two percussionists and orchestra "Fractured Lines", composed by Mark-Anthony Turnage, at the BBC Proms under the direction of Andrew Davis; he has often collaborated with Sir Simon Rattle and premiered "Anna Nicole" by Mark-Anthony Turnage at the Royal Opera House in London, who also composed a concert for him entitled "Erskine", which had its world premiere in Bonn in 2013. Engaged in teaching and as a record producer with his Fuzzy Music label, Peter Erskine is also the author of several books.

It can be heard at the Bflat only if equipped with a green pass, the instrument that is allowing the live show to return to normal and the public to regain possession of those moments of culture and great music that many festivals in Sardinia are again offering for the joy of fans.
