Cagliari pays homage to “Su Mastru Salis” , the teacher who did so much to literate and educate the Luxurious population after the Second World War.
Tomorrow, Tuesday 20 February , in the Gigi Riva room of the Library of Elmas airport, at 3.30 pm , the writer Antonio Pinna will present his book "Francesco Salis, a Master for the community" , written to remember the illustrious Lussurgese who gave a substantial contribution to making her country progress culturally and socially , also stimulating the local economy and the birth of the first women's cooperatives, including the weavers' coop.
One of the souls of the Cultural Centers of the Sardinian UNLA will talk to him, Antonio Bellinzas , also from Lussurge and former director of the Cultural Services Center of Oristano, who has well known the epic of the Lussurgese Culture Center by collaborating with Salis in the many projects socio-educational.
Francesco Antonio Salis was the master par excellence, he fought illiteracy by educating shepherds, farmers, artisans, housewives and training them in life, borrowing his education model from the pedagogist Anna Lorenzetto . «The book highlights his charismatic and innovative figure as a cultural and social animator who took care of cohesion and solidarity in his country and, in close connection with the UNLA, guided its civic promotion. With the OECE-Sardinia project (1958-62) he stimulated the development of the community", specifies the author Pinna.
He was a good person who managed to reach the hearts of his fellow citizens and gain their trust , thanks to his innate empathy.
Celebrated last September on the centenary of his birth, he won the UNESCO Reza Pahlavi prize in 1967 for his passionate experience of lifelong education. With the children of the Cultural Center in 1976 he created the Museum of Rural Technology , one of the first ethnographic collections in Italy of tools and objects from the many professions of pre-industrial society. He was the soul and narrator of the Museum until 2007 .
