It's much more than a literary reading. At the Teatro Doglio in Cagliari, on Sunday, July 13th, you can immerse yourself in an English atmosphere, amid elegant salons and the verdant countryside of the late 18th and early 19th centuries, thanks to the celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the birth of the writer Jane Austen. "Six for Austen": six, like Austen's six canonical novels.

Each title comes to life on stage through six authors who will alternate to offer a fresh and modern vision of stories of pride, sentiment, irony, and love : Alessandro De Roma, Bea Buozzi, Ciro Auriemma, Emanuela Canepa, Simone Tempia, and Vanessa Roggeri. Six, like the six themed illustrations, created by six artists, who will accompany the audience on a visual journey into the heart of Regency fiction. On stage, two nationally renowned actors, Rita Atzeri and Riccardo Lai, will lend voice to the brilliant dialogues of Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Mansfield Park, Emma, Northanger Abbey, and Persuasion, while the live Ensemble Réunis orchestra weaves a musical backdrop capable of transporting spectators to a distant yet eternal elsewhere: eternal, like the writer's words.

Each novel comes to life not just as a reading, but as a total experience: scents, lights, and sounds evoke the atmosphere of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, when etiquette dictated strict rules and hearts boiled with unspeakable desires.

Audiences will thus be able to rediscover Jane Austen's world through a contemporary lens, highlighting the modernity of her themes: female emancipation, class differences, and the power of irony as a form of social resistance. "Six for Austen" is an ensemble piece designed for everyone, from longtime fans to those approaching this universe for the first time.

This is not a simple reading, but a multisensory journey that celebrates the universality and vitality of the six novels, offering the public an unforgettable experience.

"To celebrate such an important and significant date for the club, we created a truly innovative show that lived up to the occasion and the audience's expectations. We therefore innovated on the classic reading, without neglecting the aspect of promoting reading," says director Giuditta Sireus.

Alessandro De Roma, Bea Buozzi, Ciro Auriemma, Emanuela Canepa, Simone Tempia, and Vanessa Roggeri will take turns on stage to offer the audience a contemporary perspective on the universality of Jane Austen's literature, which still speaks to us vividly and provides food for thought. Six artists will contribute visually to the evening: for each of the novels and six readings, illustrated works will be created by Bruno Olivieri, Gaia Ruffino, Giacomo Putzu, Gioia Marchegiani, Manu Invisible, and Zoe Dora.
