He didn't even stop for a little girl who fell to the ground and was injured. The young Algerian arrested on Friday afternoon not only stole an eleven-year-old girl's cell phone, but also caused her minor injuries. For this reason, after further investigation by officers from the Flying Squad, he was arrested for robbery and, as ordered by the prosecutor on duty, taken to prison. Louay Benrabah, 25, was questioned yesterday by the judge who confirmed his arrest. Assisted by his lawyer Massimiliano Dessalvi, he is now awaiting confirmation of the possible remand.
Fear
Unfortunately, yet again, a serious incident of petty crime has occurred in the Marina district. Here, as reconstructed by patrol officers who responded promptly after a report of the robbery under the porticoes of Via Roma, an eleven-year-old girl failed to notice the approach of a young man who grabbed her smartphone. The force of the 25-year-old knocked the victim to the ground, and she was immediately rescued by a relative who was with her. Witnesses immediately raised the alarm by calling 112, and a police patrol, conducting checks in the area, arrived within moments.
The research
The officers, coordinated by Director Massimo Imbimbo, gathered a wealth of information and, thanks to testimonies, gained an idea of the young alleged robber's clothing and appearance. With the assistance of officers from other patrols who quickly arrived in the area, the search allowed them to locate the 25-year-old, who was heading toward Piazza Matteotti in an attempt to disappear. He didn't go far and, after attempting to flee upon seeing the officers, was apprehended. Benrabah, as revealed by the Flying Squad officers' investigation, still had his cell phone with him, which he returned to the girl, who was then rescued. Despite the shock, he did not suffer any serious injuries. The young Algerian was taken to the police headquarters and then to Uta prison on charges of robbery.
