The season is over for Rossoblu winger Mattia Felici. He recently completed surgery at Villa Stuart to reconstruct his left anterior cruciate ligament and repair his medial meniscus.
An injury that will keep the Roman player, born in 2001, who scored two goals in the first part of the season, out of action for at least six months: the championship can therefore be considered over.
Felici sustained the injury late in the Coppa Italia match against Napoli, just minutes after coming on in the 85th minute. Despite the pain, he remained on the pitch and even took one of the penalties in the first division, hitting the crossbar. Upon returning to the pitch in Assemini yesterday, his knee swelled: a clear warning to the medical staff, who immediately ordered further tests.
This is yet another setback for Cagliari following Andrea Belotti's injury—also to the cruciate ligament—and he's not expected back until spring. The situation for Pisacane's team will also be complicated by the absence of Luvumbo, who has been called up by Angola for the Africa Cup of Nations starting in mid-December.
The first message of support for Felici on social media came from his teammate and friend Gabriele Zappa: "Sometimes football is unfair! Get well soon, my friend." The full-back accompanied his words with two photos with the Rossoblu winger: one on the training pitch, the other during a stand-up paddleboarding trip in the crystal-clear waters of Sardinia.
