The San Benedetto market must not close . Giuseppe Farris , mayoral candidate in Cagliari, claims this in a post shared on his Facebook page and entrusted to the opinion of citizens. With his team, the CiviCa2024 list , he visited the «largest food market in Italy and, probably, in Europe, one of the symbols of the city's identity over which the specter of the center-right looms, with the monstrous figure of 56 million euros, he would like to cancel it ."

The one proposed by Farris is a variant to be applied to work in progress which - to begin with - does not provide for any stop to the activities of traders who would see their "house" renovated in blocks, "as was already the case 25 years ago". All without affecting the usual activities, which would continue normally: " The market will never be closed and will continue to operate ", assures the candidate.

Farris also says no to the transfer " of the dealers to the lager structure built in Piazzetta Nazzari, one of the few spaces for outdoor artistic performances, inaugurated just in June 2020, with 4.5 million euros of public funding ". The post also mentions those outside the market. «The original appearance will be maintained», explains Farris who concludes by touching on a topic very dear to traders and customers: that of parking . " No stalemate will be eliminated ," he promises.
