Emilio Solfrizzi, multi-awarded with important recognitions obtained during a very long and brilliant career, arrives on the Island to interpret one of the absolute masterpieces of the genius of Molière. will be staged in "Il Malato Immaginario", a satirical fresco of society, the latest comedy by the great French author and universally known to the general public, even those unaccustomed to prose seasons.

On stage, with the Apulian actor, an excellent cast with Lisa Galantini, Antonella Piccolo and Sergio Basile, alongside Viviana Altieri, Cristiano Dessì, Cecilia D'Amico and Luca Massaro, with the participation of Rosario Coppolino and directed by Guglielmo Ferro .

The pièce, which emphasizes the protagonist's fear of living, who unconsciously makes use of the disease in order not to face "the darts of atrocious fortune" and to escape problems and responsibilities, lost in his own extravagance and obsessions, will be of the most awaited appointments of the season of "La Grande Prosa" by Cedac chaired by Antonio Cabiddu and directed by Valeria Ciabattoni: the debut today, Wednesday 19 April, in the regional premiere at the Teatro Massimo in Cagliari, where it will remain on the bill until 23 April, with performances every day from Wednesday to Saturday at 8.30pm and Sunday at 7pm.

Given the many requests from fans, Friday 21st there will be a double performance with an extraordinary afternoon performance at 4.30pm, while the stage in Sassari is scheduled for Monday 24th April at 9pm at the Teatro Comunale di Sassari for the last date of the national tour.

"Il Malato Immaginario", in the staging of the Compagnia Molière and La Contrada Teatro Stabile di Trieste, in collaboration with Teatro Quirino "Vittorio Gassman", with costumes by Santuzza Calì, sets by Fabiana Di Marco and music by Massimiliano Pace, tells the daily vicissitudes of Argante, played by Emilio Solfrizzi, a wealthy man but afflicted by a multiplicity of pathologies, probably existing only in his head, as well as in the imaginative diagnoses of the various doctors called to assist him, who spare no cures and prescriptions in exchange for high fees, administering purges and bloodletting with abundance, rigorous diets and prohibitions, so as not to upset the unhappy patient, indeed indulging him in his fixations.

A beautiful character, a typical and even extreme case of hypochondria, around which the author builds a whole circus of self-styled luminaries and experts, who debate and contradict each other, each time reinforcing the doses, on the mysterious evils and related therapies: Molière mocks the arrogance and pedantic tones of this court of healers and charlatans, ready to exploit the weaknesses and fears of the wealthy client to their own advantage, because if they were really wise they would have had to unmask him, and unmask themselves together with their colleagues, or at least not wasting time following their unfounded beliefs, thus skillfully staging an intriguing game of mirrors between fiction and reality, which is transformed by a twist of fate in its latest performance.

Thursday 20 April at 6 pm in the Foyer of the Teatro Massimo, the usual appointment with "Beyond the Scene / meeting with the artists": Emilio Solfrizzi and the company, interviewed by the writer Matteo Porru, will talk about Molière's comedy with a reflection on theater and society .
