Cagliari: Dead trees replaced on Via Roma

Cagliari's green heritage is priceless. Between radical pruning, uncontrolled cutting, and suffocating asphalt, this treasure isn't always cared for in the best possible way. Other times, as in architect Stefano Boeri's vertical forest, inaugurated last summer, unsuitable trees have been planted at the wrong times, severely pruned, and now replaced by new specimens.
These days, the company that won the contract is replacing the nine dead Judas trees (Cercis siliquastrum) out of the 191 trees on the promenade (still under the responsibility of the municipal Department of Public Works).
The hope is that the plants will take root, grow optimally, and be placed under the care of the Palazzo Bacaredda Green Service.
