The regional capital has been playing the role of the protagonist on the tennis front for decades and the whole of Sardinia has shown that it knows how to represent an example in the competitive and organizational field. However, the maximum national review had never arrived on the island and therefore it is an absolute first.
The event is organized by the Italian Table Tennis Federation (FITeT) , in collaboration with the FITeT Sardinia Regional Committee and under the patronage of the Sardinia Region and the Municipality of Cagliari .
FITeT has catalysed tireless teamwork, which has seen its operational branch engaged in the area and the political and sporting institutions, also considering the contribution guaranteed by CONI and the regional Italian Paralympic Committee.
«This debut in Cagliari and Sardinia of the Italian Championships - explains the president of FITeT Renato Di Napoli - is a source of pride for us. We are in a land that boasts a great tradition in the field of our sport and therefore I am convinced that enthusiasts will appreciate our efforts to set up an event that meets their expectations. It will be eight days of great emotions , a journey that will start from the third category races and go through the second category ones, to end, in a Rossinian crescendo, with the absolutes. We have teamed up and I am sure that the results will prove us right, not to mention that we have created the conditions for further collaboration opportunities to arise in the future».
THE ATHLETES – The highlight of the event will be the absolute singles and in the men the outgoing champion Niagol Stoyanov (Fiamme Azzurre Sports Group), who won in 2014, 2018 and 2022, will want to demonstrate that he is capable of imposing himself even in odd-numbered years. He will find on his way Mihai Bobocica (Aeronautica Militare), who boasts six titles, but hasn't scored since 2017, last year's finalist Jordy Piccolin (Gruppo Sportivo Fiamme Azzurre) and Leonardo Mutti and Marco Rech Daldosso (both from the Air Force Military), who have two badges each to their credit.
The younger ones will try to break the bank with Matteo Mutti (Top Spin Messina), Antonino Amato (Marcozzi Cagliari), Andrea Puppo (Apuania Carrara) and the other favorites of the house John Oyebode (TT Sassari) and Carlo Rossi (Marcozzi).
Among the girls for four editions, Giorgia Piccolin (Army Sports Center) called the law, who in Biella in 2022 continued her march also against the returning Nikoleta Stefanova (then in force at the Norbello table tennis and today at the CIATT Prato), who holds the record of 11 seals. The other veteran Tan Wenling (CIATT Prato) and Veronica Mosconi (Tennis table Norbello) have also already put the gold medal around their necks, while pursuing the dream of breaking the taboo and getting on the first step of the podium Debora Vivarelli (Centro Sportivo Army) and Chiara Colantoni (CIATT Prato).
Godmother and presenter of the event will be Videolina journalist Valentina Caruso.
