Cagliari received this morning at the LaVerdi Auditorium in Milan the “Coni Golden Collar for Sporting Merit”.

The Olympic Committee wanted to reward the centuries-old history of the Rossoblu clubs, "the activity carried out and the merits acquired in a century of life", reads the motivations. "The Golden Collar represents the highest sporting honor established by Coni to recognize the highest sporting successes achieved by our athletes and also the sporting merits of centenary clubs or those sports managers who have dedicated an important part of their life to the service of sport".

The handover, already announced in November with a letter from Malagò to Giulini and Riva, honorary president, took place in the presence of Malagò himself, the undersecretary for Sport Valentina Vezzali, the mayor of Milan Beppe Sala, the Prefect Renato Saccone, the Quaestor Giuseppe Petronzi, the president of the Lombardy Regional Council Alessandro Fermi and the rector of Bocconi Gianmario Verona.

"I would like to express my satisfaction, that of the honorary president Luigi Riva and of the whole Cagliari Calcio club, together with the strong gratitude we address to Coni for this prestigious award", is the comment of Tommaso Giulini. “The Golden Collar for Sporting Merit is an important goal of our sport at the highest levels, receiving it is something extraordinary that honors us and encourages us to do better and better. It is a recognition of the Club's history, a fair reward for what so many people have done in the hundred years of existence of these glorious colors. For our part, we want to legitimize this type of certificates more and more, with the commitment to work every day to grow within our movement ".

On the sidelines of the ceremony, the rossoblù dg Mario Passetti spoke about the transfer market. A few words: “We are in October and it is early to talk about purchases, we have everything we need to do well. We will talk about it again at Christmas ”.
