It will take place on Thursday 20 June starting at 10am “Calvino in Orto! ”, an extemporaneous painting event organized by the Botanical Garden of the University of Cagliari in collaboration with the Academy of Art of Cagliari.
Born within the celebrations for the Calvinian Year, the initiative starts from the consideration that when Eva Mameli Calvino held the role of director of the Botanical Garden, little Italo was only a few years old. And today it is suggestive to ask whether that child, destined to become one of the greatest Italian writers, ever played along the avenues of the green lung of the city or admired the goldfish in the water lily tank.
On Thursday a group of artists, together with some students from the Art Academy of Cagliari, will immerse themselves in the greenery and try on site, with canvases and easels, to draw inspiration from the place to interpret the suggestive setting through paintings and drawings impromptu, perhaps imagining little Calvino walking in nature. Visitors to the Botanical Garden will be able to follow them throughout the day , observing how the creative process of an artist is born and develops. In the late afternoon, a public meeting will take stock of the artistic results of the event, while the works created will then be exhibited inside the Botanical Museum for a few weeks.
The artists taking part in the initiative are Sara Paravagna, Emanuele Cocco, Josto Mura, Rossella Rambaldi, Valentina Francescon, Alessandro Congera, Eleonora Camboni, Lisa Uscidda, Fabio Sanna Sorresu, Camilla Cotza and Angela Piu.
