A very prestigious result for the “Foiso Fois” art and music high school in Cagliari, which confirms the importance of wanting to offer a good humanistic, musical and artistic education. Thus, the student Laura Ibba of the Third F class with a focus on figurative arts at the Via Bixio branch in Pirri won the regional final of the national award dedicated to Giacomo Leopardi, now in its eighth edition. Now the student, a lover of Italian literature, will participate in the national final that will take place on June 1st in Recanati and will represent the whole of Sardinia in this prestigious literary award. For the occasion, she will be accompanied by literature teacher Natascia Piras, who has taken great care and love for the poet from Recanati in preparing the student.

The regional tests of the competition were examined by the regional jury of Sardinia, composed of the teachers Gian Luigi Pittau (president of the commission and teacher of Italian language and literature), Luciano Aru and Maria Luisa Brodu. For the artistic and musical high school “Foiso Fois” of Cagliari, directed by the teacher Nicoletta Rossi, who expressed her joy and satisfaction for the important result achieved by the student, it is a very prestigious achievement that testifies to the great space given to humanistic education in the artistic and musical high school of Cagliari. The student Laura Ibba, who will have the honor and the burden of representing all of Sardinia, won first place in the regional test, held in Cagliari . In the same phase, several students from different high schools and institutes of higher education of Sardinia competed, demonstrating that the love for literature is common to students of different courses of study.

The regional jury is composed of Professor Gian Luigi Pittau and Professors Luciano Aru and Maria Luisa Brodu: «We are very honored and proud for Sardinia, which is also participating in the award this year», explain the three members of the jury. «Reading Giacomo Leopardi today, in addition to his encyclopedic culture which is already fascinating in itself, is extremely important because this man of letters has addressed themes that are still very current today and has asked ancestral questions that man has always asked and will always ask. Leopardi's thought not only needs to be rediscovered, but in many ways it is still to be discovered. Another good reason to read one of the greatest authors of our literature is to be against the grain like Leopardi himself ».
