April 12, 1970, a Sunday that became legend . Exactly 55 years ago Cagliari won its only championship , and the red and blue club celebrates the anniversary like every year.

"There are days that never fade . Days that, even after decades, shine brightly in the collective memory as if time had stopped there, on that final whistle, on that embrace between comrades, on that roar that from Cagliari reached every corner of Sardinia and crossed the sea."

We remember an Island that woke up that morning "with a different breath, a mixture of hope and pride". Of an Amsicora packed , "and those who couldn't get in climbed everywhere: on lampposts, on trees, even on the roofs of nearby houses. Everyone wanted to witness a dream that was about to become reality ".

A victory over Bari was enough to graduate as champions with two days to spare. And that "band of real men, tough and proud like the land that had adopted them" , led by the "philosopher of football" Manlio Scopigno, did not fail to achieve the objective.

"There were no hesitations. Leading the march towards glory was Gigi Riva, "Rombo di Tuono", the man who had rejected the greats of the north to remain faithful to Cagliari , because here he had found home, heart and family. And it was he who unlocked the match. Then the doubling of "Bobo" Gori "closed the matter, 2-0.

That day, Cagliari Calcio recalls, " the whole of Sardinia raised its head once and for all. It wasn't just a sporting trophy, it was a collective redemption, a victory that had the flavour of dignity . Cagliari's Scudetto wasn't just sewn onto the shirts, but was embroidered in the heart of every Sardinian, inside and outside the Island."

For this reason, 55 years later, April 12, 1970 remains engraved in the memory of the Sardinians as "one of those days in its history in which Sardinia learned to dream and look down on everyone, a new "Sa Die" that still today makes the entire red and blue world swell with joy ."

To celebrate the date, the club posted a video on social media with stories from grandparents to their grandchildren.
