"La guerra di Cesare", the first feature film by Sergio Scavio, will be presented on Saturday 29 March as a national preview at the XVI edition of the Bif&st - Bari International Film&Tv Festival , within the competitive section Meridiana, reserved for works that interpret the social transformations of our time with originality and depth.
Filmed in the southwest of Sardinia, in the silent and suspended spaces of an abandoned mine, “La guerra di Cesare” tells with emotional force and narrative rigor the existential parable of two men - Cesare and Mauro - linked by a brotherly friendship and a common destiny marked by the collapse of the world of work. A story of loss, struggle and attempts at redemption that transforms into an inner journey, an act of rebellion and awareness that finds in the Sardinian province a powerful and universal setting.
"Caesar's War is a film that struck us from the early stages of development, for the maturity of the writing, the depth of the characters and the ability to tell the present through the filter of the province - says Giuseppina Sanna, president of the Fondazione Sardegna Film Commission -. The inclusion of this film at the Bif&st is an important recognition not only for the emerging talent of Sergio Scavio, but also for the quality and expressive power of the cinema that is born in Sardinia. The film courageously tackles a universal theme such as the dignity of work, at the same time giving us back the identity of a territory that is often forgotten but full of stories to tell".
Sergio Scavio teaches Theory and Method of Mass Media at the Academy of Fine Arts "Sironi" in Sassari, he wrote the feature film together with Pier Paolo Piciarelli, and starring Fabrizio Ferracane, Alessandro Gazale, Luciano Curreli and Francesca Ventriglia, the film is produced by Ombre Rosse and Wellsee, in association with Metaphyx, in collaboration with Rai Cinema. The production was able to count on the contribution of the Ministry of Culture, the Sardinia Region and the support of the Fondazione Sardegna Film Commission, the Fondazione di Sardegna and Roble Factory. The theatrical distribution will be handled by RS Productions and Mirari Vos.
