Healthcare and social policies are making the Budget Bill's passage through the Chamber difficult. This afternoon , proceedings began an hour and a half late due to internal tensions within the majority over the funding earmarked for diocesan Caritas organizations .

The Campo Largo group leaders met for a long time but have yet to reach a common goal. The problem concerns the distribution of these resources. Currently, as established in the 2025 budget, €1.5 million is allocated to ten dioceses, divided equally between them and the other half based on population . The budget law under discussion would change this rule, establishing a perfectly equal division in Article 2, paragraph 14 : €150,000 for each. However, this would mean the diocese of Cagliari would lose almost €80,000, and the diocese of Sassari €25,000 . Hence the Democratic Party's amendment to delete paragraph 14 and essentially leave things as they are.

A compromise is now being worked on to guarantee a minimum of €150,000 to all dioceses, but with an increase in the overall ceiling by an additional €200,000 , from €1.5 million to €1.7 million. This means not equal shares, but no less than €150,000 per diocese. An agreement has not yet been reached, which is why the group leaders' conference has decided to suspend consideration of Article 2 and move directly to Article 4, which concerns agriculture.
