The Brescia Public Prosecutor's Office has filed for bankruptcy against Brescia Calcio , joining the petition for liquidation filed by one of the club's creditors. The request comes as former president Massimo Cellino attempts to obtain protective measures from the court to initiate a restructuring plan and avoid bankruptcy . The Giornale di Brescia reports this.
A hearing has begun before the judge on the protective measures, which would provide a 120-day shield against creditors' actions. However, according to the expert appointed by the Chamber of Commerce, the plan is currently "not reasonably viable" without such safeguards.
The club's total debt, including suppliers, members, social security institutions, banks, the municipality, and the Revenue Agency, was approaching €19 million at the end of July . Cellino proposed a deal worth approximately €4.5 million, committing to personally finance up to €1.8 million. But the proposal met with resistance : the Revenue Agency, faced with a debt of nearly €9 million, deemed the payment offer "derisory."
Also on the table is the negotiation with Union Brescia , confirmed by owner Giuseppe Pasini, which concerns the brand, name, historic registration number and other assets, including the fee linked to the transfer of Tonali.
However, time is running out: a response is expected by the end of January, while any agreement should be finalized.
