Two female pieces to counterbalance the male concert of the Avg, protagonist of the opening night at the Abbey of San Pietro di Sorres. And for the festival "Voci D'Europa" there is immediate thunderous applause.
The Coro Polifonico Turritano directed by Laura Lambroni kicked off the 41st edition of the singing event, passing the baton to the male group of the Vocal Academy of Genoa who, under the direction of maestro Roberta Paraninfo, thrilled the large audience with a repertoire for voices only or accompanied on the cello by Danilo Perotto and on the piano and organ by Riccardo Pinna.
"It is a great privilege to be part of one of the few international festivals for polyphonic music in Italy, held in wonderful places in Sardinia of particular spirituality and beauty, art and history", said Roberta Paraninfo, who during the evening received a participation plaque, as a certificate of esteem, from the president of the Coro Polifonico Turritano, Maria Maddalena Simile.
It is the first plaque obtained by the male choir, as it is a new formation within the Ligurian academy. A similar attestation of esteem was delivered to the mayor of Borutta, Silvano Arru, who declared: «For us it is an honor to host the Voci D'Europa festival, a fixed, unmissable event, which makes us so proud because our country is working hard to support culture, as an element of barrier to the depopulation that these areas of Sardinia are experiencing with particular intensity. We look forward to seeing you next year too».
On Friday 6 September from 7 pm the festival will stop at the “Tenuta Li Lioni” in Porto Torres for the concert-event "Terzo Tempo", an evening that will combine music, tradition and culture in a magical atmosphere. The protagonist of the evening will be the Amalgamation Choir, a Cypriot female choir directed by the talented Vasiliki Anastasiou. The ensemble is made up of women of all ages and is known for its ability to reinterpret traditional Cypriot melodies and folk songs with lyrical adaptations that give voice to often forgotten stories. The concert will be enhanced by the performances of the Coro Polifonico Turritano and the folk group Intragnas, all immersed in a context that also celebrates the craftsmanship and food and wine of the area.
