Borscht, a typical dish from Ukraine, is a Unesco heritage site . A decision taken in an "urgent" and also symbolic way, in solidarity with the country invaded by Russian troops.

What is it about?

Borscht is a soup with a characteristic red color, given by beets , which are one of the main ingredients. In addition to Ukraine, it is also part of the tradition of other Eastern European countries.

It is a typical delicacy of autumn or in any case of the cold months.

To begin with, you need to prepare a meat broth , cook the beets separately and, always separately, boil some beef .

Then in a casserole we proceed with a sauté of onions, carrots and garlic , then add pork cut into bite-sized pieces, the beef boiled and cut into strips with a knife.

Then add some fresh tomatoes cut into wedges, sauerkraut drained from their canned water and lastly the already cooked beets , cut into chunks, together with a couple of spoons of their cooking water. Finally, it is covered with the broth and left to cook for about an hour, preferably over a low heat.

At the end of cooking the Borscht is served hot , with the addition of a tablespoon of sour cream for each dish and a sprinkling of dill .
