Journalist Paolo Borrometi, co-director of the Agi- Agenzia Giornalistica Italia, under escort for ten years for having reported on the mafia in Sicily, will be the protagonist of the review “Libriamoci, Incontriamoci: Libri per andare” in Villanova Monteleone, Sunday 1 September at 7:30 pm, in the hall of the Confraternita di Misericordia Piazza-Delogu-Ibba.
In the meeting Borrometi, who will be in conversation with the journalist Mario Mossa, will talk about his latest books “Traditori - Come fango e depistaggio hanno segno la storia italiana” (Ed. Solferino), and “Siate rompiscatole.
The story of Father Pino Puglisi told to girls and boys” (Ed. Mondadori) but also of his life under escort after receiving several death threats. In the first book the writer asks the question: why do so many massacres and crimes in Italy go unpunished? The search for the truth is an obstacle course and in too many cases, even before looking for the culprits, the credibility of those making the accusations has been called into question. This happened to Giovanni Falcone when it was said that he had planted the Addaura bomb himself and to Paolo Borsellino whose red diary, mysteriously disappeared, was supposedly a “parasol”. To understand the dramatic effects, Paolo Borrometi takes us on a journey through the history of Italy in which he denounces traitors, criminals who aim to create confusion in the country to achieve their own illegitimate interests. The Solo Plan, the Borghese Coup, the strategy of tension, the bombs, the Italicus, the “black” mafia (in the political sense of the adjective), the Moro kidnapping, the Dalla Chiesa murder, the Rapido 904, the Capaci and Via D'Amelio massacres, the mafia terrorism plotted by Totò Riina, the very long period of hiding of Bernardo Provenzano, up to the arrest of Matteo Messina Denaro are then retraced. A comprehensive look at the controversial history of Italy.
During the evening we will also talk about another great opponent of the mafia, and for this he was killed, Father Pino Puglisi, his story told to the girls and boys is full of love, dignity and freedom. He fought in a particular way so that in his neighborhood, Brancaccio in Palermo, schools open to all were created: he was convinced that education was the real weapon to fight organized crime.
