Barumini and its treasures are once again among the most popular destinations in Sardinia for archaeological-cultural tourism.

This is certified by the latest official numbers of presences in the first two weeks of August, which brought over 13 thousand visitors to the three sites of Su Nuraxi , Casa Zapata and Centro G. Lilliu , with Ferragosto seeing a boom in attendance reaching 1,250 in one day.

"The numbers for August bring us back in line with 2019 , the pre-pandemic boom year and show that the cultural offer put in place by the Foundation is giving the expected results" comments Emanuele Lilliu , president of the Foundation. " Barumini is confirmed as one of the most visited and coveted places in the cultural panorama of the island and this gives us hope for the rest of the season which should lead 2022 to be one of the most important years, ever, in terms of presence".

According to Lilliu, the cooperation activated with the most important Italian museums, the Superintendence and the Directorate General of Sardinia museums was decisive in boosting tourist flows .

"These collaborations, in particular the one with the National Archaeological Museum of Naples (Mann), represented a turning point - he adds - and it is for this reason that we aim to strengthen the agreements, also at a territorial level, as will happen at the next tourism Expo cultural. In the near future we will carry out many other important initiatives, all aimed at promoting Barumini in ever wider contexts, to confront ourselves in national and international contexts ”.

The aftermath of Covid and international events did not, therefore, curb the desire for culture and in August the historical and archaeological beauties of Barumini were confirmed among the most sought after and visited attractions in Sardinia.

Tourists have chosen Barumini coming from all over the island , from Italy and above all from the international front. Attendances that have certified large numbers at the palace of "Su Nuraxi", Unesco heritage since 1997, thanks also to the night visits to the site that continue this summer, to continue with the historic Casa Zapata and the Giovanni Lilliu Cultural Center, in an offer integrated that brings visitors to enjoy all three sites with a single ticket.

Like the one at the Lilliu Center which hosts two important exhibitions : the exhibition on the Etruscans "Beyond the Sea, Etruria and Sardinia in a thousand years of history", born from the collaboration with Mann and "Thesaurus - the usurped heritage" set up thanks to the important contribution of the Carabinieri Unit for the Protection of the Cultural Heritage of Cagliari, with the Superintendence of Archeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the metropolitan city of Cagliari and the provinces of Oristano and South Sardinia.
