Tommaso Cerno will be the next protagonist of the Porto Cervo Libri literary festival, organized and curated by the Costa Smeralda Consortium.
Tomorrow at 7:30 pm on the beach in Porto Cervo's Piazzetta Centrale, starting with his "A Noi!", the editor of the newspaper Il Tempo will give a Sardinian preview of his career from the evocative stage on the Costa Smeralda, and will reflect on current issues in an interview with his colleague Giorgio Fresu.
The subtitle of the book ("What remains of fascism in the era of Berlusconi, Grillo, and Renzi") by Cerno, a journalist and commentator among the most respected and authoritative on Mediaset, Rai, and La 7, and a former member of parliament for the Democratic Party, speaks volumes about some of the evening's topics, which will include timeless terms, charismatic figures, political choices, and social phenomena. A native of Udine, Cerno, in his early fifties, began his career at Messaggero Veneto, where he worked until 2009. He then moved to L'Espresso, where he served as news editor, collaborated with La Repubblica, returned to Messaggero Veneto as editor, and hosted the program D-Day on Rai Tre.
From 2016 to 2017, he was editor-in-chief of the weekly magazine L'Espresso, and from 2017 to 2018, he was co-editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper la Repubblica. In the 2018 general election, he was elected to the Senate with the Democratic Party. He also edited the daily newspaper L'Identità, and since March 2024, he has edited Il Tempo.
His publications include “Affa Taffa” (2010), “The Mud Machine. How the Italian Disinformation System Works” with Emiliano Fittipaldi (2011), “Inferno. The Comedy of Power” (2013) and, most recently, “To Us! What Remains of Fascism in the Age of Berlusconi, Grillo and Renzi” (2015).
Admission to the event is free.
