A work dedicated to Zichi, the typical bread of Bonorva , will be inaugurated on Friday 12 August in the gardens of via Sauro at 7.30 pm.

It was created by Giuseppe Carta, the sculptor of the great fruits of the Earth.

“Our center, since ancient times - explains the mayor of Bonorva, Massimo D'Agostino -, has linked its fortunes to the culture of the peasant tradition and has always found sustenance from the fruits of the fields and the sacrifice of its farmers. This is why we wanted a monument that would contain the significance of the importance of wheat and bread for the Bonorvesi, bread that in some way represents our identity ”.

Zichi bread is a Pat, a traditional Sardinian agri-food product, and is presented in thin, soft or crunchy flattened durum wheat flour. In Bonorva also this year there is a festival dedicated to this excellence, now in its 28th edition.

Giuseppe Carta's work, three meters high, is probably the first in Italy and perhaps also in the world dedicated to bread, "an element connected to life, atemporal - underlines the artist - it knows neither boundaries nor time, it is past and present together, it is a source of material sustenance and spiritual nourishment, it is an element of union and sharing ”.
