Goodbye to Bonnie Tyler : the British singer, best known for the song “Total Eclipse of the Heart” , died at the age of 75 in Portugal, where she had been hospitalized for two months, in a pharmacological coma, following intestinal surgery.
The artist's family and team announced the news in a statement on their official website. "We will release a further statement," the statement reads, "but for now, we ask for respect for our privacy in this time of grief."
Born in Wales on June 8, 1951, Bonnie Tyler's first success came in 1977 with the single Lost in France, followed the same year by It's a Heartache.
However, it was Total Eclipse of the Heart, a song written in 1983 by Jim Steinman and included in the album Faster Than the Speed of Night, that brought her to fame.
Tyler will be the first Welsh artist to top the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
