The work of the Benjamin Piercy cultural association continues unabated, with the enrichment of the library of the ancient villa of Badde Salighes, including furniture, books and objects from all parts of the island.

In recent days, various antique furniture, valuable pieces and a book collection have been acquired by the association, which has already largely reconstructed the furnishings of the ancient villa, built at the end of the 19th century by Benjamin Piercy, the Welsh engineer who he designed and built the railways in Sardinia.

The antique furniture, precious pieces and much more are owned by the Figari heirs of Cagliari, who have been housed in the Badde Salighes villa on the Bolotana mountain. They are pieces of furniture that the Figari family of Cagliari inherited from the lawyer Cesare Oliveti, a well-known criminal and civil lawyer, former collaborator of L'Unione Sarda, and from his wife Carmela Figari.

The great-grandfather, Bartolomeo Figari, among other things, was the trusted man of Benjamin Piercy, then departmental director of the Sardinian railways. From that friendship was born the collaboration and therefore the donation of furniture and objects of great value, between the Figari family and the Benjamin Piercy association of Bolotana.

«It is a donation that fills us with pride - says the indefatigable president of the association, Mario Bussa - because in a very few years the library has acquired a high historical and cultural value, with about three thousand books that will have to be placed on the appropriate shelves. We are grateful to the Figari heirs of Cagliari and in particular to our friend Luisa, who was the link between the family and our association». Villa Piercy will soon become the most important cultural center in the area. The library will instead be inaugurated next spring.
