Discussion table between local health authorities, breeders and trade and sector associations to analyze the beef supply chain in Northern Sardinia , with particular reference to the actions to be undertaken to support the sector to address any critical issues, such as the problems linked to the limitations of the movement of cattle , following the onset of outbreaks of Blue Tongue serotype 8 in some areas of Sardinia.

«Sardinia is a region with an important tradition in the production of beef , which represents a strategic sector for the local economy . However, the supply chain is currently characterized by some critical issues, including the presence of the serotype 8 blue tongue epidemic, which, together, we can analyze and manage in the best possible way to protect consumers and the population but also entrepreneurs in the sector", said the general director of the Sassari Local Health Authority, Flavio Sensi , at the opening of the meeting.

In recent days, in the headquarters of the ASL of Sassari , a meeting took place between the top management of the health company and the representatives of the Animal Health Service, the Health Director of the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Sardinia, the top management of the trade associations (Coldiretti, Cia and Confagricoltura) and the sector associations (Associazione Boes).

«I believe - said Director General Sensi - that the development of businesses in the beef supply chain has great margins and growth opportunities , with a significant socio-economic impact for Northern Sardinia. For this reason we have decided and launched, together with the representatives of the sector's businesses, a permanent technical table to address the problems related to the beef supply chain to resolve them more quickly and comprehensively according to the specific needs of the businesses in our various territories".
