«I feel at home with Bitti's Tenores on stage».

There are just a few hours left until the first tenor singing performance on the Ariston stage . The Tenores of Bitti “Remunnu 'e Locu” will go up to the most important stage of Italian music to perform with Mahmood , in the evening dedicated to covers, with a revisitation of the song “Come è profound il mare” by Lucio Dalla.

“One of my favorite Italian songs ever,” Mahmood said. «The depth of this text is immense. But I'm happy to sing it with them because they represent my homeland . And then they are very good: a few days ago we rehearsed in the studio and the oldest of the group, who has perfect pitch, managed to get the note of the intro a cappella. They are incredible, it will be top."

The wait in the shops and bars of the Barbagia area is sky-high for its Bittesi singers, who in decades of activity have brought the ancient artistic expression of the shepherds all over the world . From Australia to Iraq, from Kazakhstan to Argentina, Canada, Cuba and the United States, passing through Egypt, Singapore and Morocco, the Tenores have sung everywhere : in France they performed 26 times. They have collaborated among others with Maria Carta, Tazenda, Piero Marras, Luigi Lai, Paolo Fresu, Peter Gabriel and Ornette Coleman, Lester Bowie and Frank Zappa.

Today arrived in Sanremo, yesterday they met to warm up the vocal chords of Dino Ruiu's voice, Andrea Sella's mezzo-voce, Pierluigi Giorno's contra and Mario Pira's bass. Between a song at "isterrita" and one at "boche notte" and between a "ballu seriu" and a "ballu lestru" the vocal harmony of the archaic song of these territories of Sardinia is echoed in the alleys of the historic center.

«Now we are there, after days of preparation and rehearsals, all we have to do is enter the scene of the Ariston Theater with all the necessary strength and emotion – they say – We will do it aware of bringing the richness and beauty of a land to the world entire, who with her thousand-year-old song faces this artistic adventure with sobriety and seriousness. We will do it knowing that on that stage there will not only be the Tenores of Bitti and Mahmood, but there will be the sacrifice and commitment of an island on Sardinian land and of many small islands that will follow us with family or friends from the most various locations on the planet. The canto a tenore will always remain the song of our world , of our love stories and social protests, of moments of religious meditation and days of celebration in which communities come together. Thanks to Mahmood, tomorrow night, we will try to share it with many people in a different way and on a par with other musical styles ."

The Tenores di Bitti group “Remunnu 'e Locu” was born in 1974 with the original lineup composed of Daniele Cossellu, voice and half voice, Piero Sanna, voice and half voice, Salvatore Bandinu, bass, and Tancredi Tucconi, contra. In 1994 the first change came with the entry of Mario Pira to replace Salvatore Bandinu, then in 2002 Pierluigi Giorno replaced Tancredi Tucconi, while in 2014 Dino Ruiu took the place of Piero Sanna. The last handover arrives in 2019, when Daniele Cossellu, born in 1932, abandons performances and passes the baton to the young Andrea Sella.
