Work has begun in Bitti to complete the restoration of the Church of Nostra Signora delle Grazie , which includes making the building safe and restoring the baroque altar . The project completes the first sudden safety intervention activated by the Municipality after the 2020 flood , which hit the town and its monuments.

The officials of the Ministry of Culture in Sardinia, who together with the local administrations went to the place of worship following the disaster, have prepared and approved a project for the «completion of the consolidation of the building of the decorative apparatus and furnishings and mitigation of the hydrogeological risk". The expected ministerial funding is 260 thousand euros .

The restoration of the roofs will be completed, to avoid infiltrations and humidity problems, and the complex project to mitigate the hydrogeological risk through an intervention on the area surrounding the monument to facilitate the flow of rainwater. Once the work is completed, visitors will be able to appreciate above all the precious baroque altar, which has been in a state of decay for some time. It will also be possible to reopen the church, currently not officiated, to the public.

Last October the director of the works, the architect Cristian Giovanetti and the sole manager of the project, the architect Patrizia Luciana Tomassetti, handed over the works to the Desogus company, winner of the tender. The works will begin shortly, but the completion is expected within the first half of 2024.
