In Sardinia , the population between 15 and 64 years of age decreases year after year : if this continues like this, in 2050 there will be only about 48% of the population in this bracket. Against the national average above 53% and above 52% in the South.

It is one of the key problems illustrated in a conference in the great hall of the rectorate of the University of Cagliari . At the center of the debate is a report by Bank of Italy on the gap between the north and the south.

According to which the active population, on the island, is in marked and progressive decrease and is contained in an increasingly vast territory. Not only that: the internal market runs the risk of weakening more and more .

The energy transition can be a risk or an opportunity . At the moment, with the exit from coal, Sardinia is partially deprived (because it has no backbone) of natural gas. Instead, it has an ever-increasing production capacity derived from renewable sources.

The only good news: according to Rosario Maria Ballatore, an expert from the Cagliari office of Bank of Italy , there are fewer organized crimes and less corruption on the island than in the rest of the South of Italy.
