Very long waits in Sardinia for the issue of electronic passports: in Cagliari, for example, you have to wait more than six months just to submit the application. And in the case of minors, the times are further lengthened.

The deputy Francesca Ghirra presented a question to the Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi to find out "how he intends to intervene and restore rapid times for the issuance of documents".

From 4 April 2022, recalls the Verdi-SI parliamentarian, the Passport Office has introduced the online booking system and in some cases - such as Quartu Sant'Elena, Carbonia, Iglesias - this is the only way to present the requests.

An innovation, underlines Ghirra, which "should have guaranteed users precise times", but this is not the case. Times have lengthened dramatically and this situation, observes the deputy, "leads to a strong lack of homogeneity between territories and intolerably limits the freedom of movement of citizens who reside in certain specific territorial areas and must travel for reasons of health, work or even just for entertainment reasons.
