Her elegance and beauty will be among the protagonists of the second evening of Sanremo . But this year on the Ariston stage there are no monologues planned. So, the Italian model Bianca Balti , who on February 12 will be co-host of the Sanremo Festival together with Nino Frassica and Cristiano Malgioglio, has decided to use her Instagram page as a microphone to tell how much her life has changed after being diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer.

Yet her career in fashion – as she writes – began “by chance”. “ Clients would offer me work and I would simply accept or decline , based on creativity and budget. It worked like magic for almost two decades. Until Covid came along. That’s when things slowed down a bit and I decided to take a more active role in my career”.

After the discovery of the disease, inevitably, many things in Balti's life and career changed. "When I got cancer, everyone, understandably, became reluctant to approach me for work. In addition to sending me flowers and cards full of love, brands stopped considering me as someone who could represent their brand . I wanted to show them and the world the power that my new look had. I unlocked the potential of the new me to feel valuable again."

In the long post entrusted to the web, which includes some of the shots in which the model shows herself with her new look, there is no lack of grit and strength. "I recognized - explains Balti - my unique values: my voice, my beliefs and my experiences. By being myself without excuses, I connected with an audience that appreciated me exactly for the woman I was. As a result, I started working with brands that embraced my values - a much more rewarding dynamic".
