An educational experience outside the classroom to introduce students to the history of the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, and Romans through movement, collaboration, and exploration of the environment.
Studying ancient Mediterranean civilizations means entering a world of travel, exchange, exploration, and encounters between peoples. For primary and secondary school students, transforming these topics into a concrete experience can be a valuable opportunity to learn differently, combining historical knowledge, motor skills, interpersonal skills, and environmental awareness.
This is the perspective that allows the Pula Adventure Park to become a true open-air classroom. Nestled in the greenery of the province of Cagliari, the park extends over approximately 13,000 square meters, between the Pixinamanna Forest and the area between Forte Village and Perla Marina, just 100 meters from the beach.
From history to experience
The Phoenicians, Carthaginians, and Romans shaped their history through their ability to navigate the Mediterranean, forge connections, trade, and engage with diverse territories and cultures. At the Pula Adventure Park, these themes can be transformed into an interdisciplinary experience, where the Mediterranean is not just a map, but an environment to be observed and experienced firsthand.
Lianas, ropes, Tibetan bridges, nets, walkways, and zip lines require balance, coordination, concentration, and the ability to navigate new situations. Movement thus becomes a tool for developing motor skills, independence, and self-confidence.
Learning to work as a team
Just as the great civilizations of the Mediterranean built their strength through organization and collaboration, even on suspended paths, students learn the value of teamwork: encouraging one another, respecting others' time, listening to directions, and facing difficulties together.
The experience also allows us to observe dynamics that are rarely seen in classrooms: autonomy, emotion management, collaboration skills, and problem solving.
Discover and respect the environment
The educational trail can be combined with environmental education. The park is home to stone and maritime pines, and in the dunes, species characteristic of the coastal environment, such as the sea rocket, the eryngium, and the sea lily.
Observing this ecosystem means concretely understanding the fragility of the Mediterranean landscape and reflecting on the ancient and current relationship between man and the environment.
For schools, therefore, a day at the Pula Adventure Park can become much more than a simple trip: an interdisciplinary laboratory in which history, geography, science, physical education and citizenship meet .
