Matteo Berrettini beats Stefanos Tsitsipas, the tournament's number 1 seed and number 12 in the world, and flies to the final of the ATP 250 in Gstaad, on Swiss clay.
The Roman tennis player seems to have found himself again, and he had already demonstrated it at Wimbledon where only an unlucky scoreboard forced him to exit the stage in the second round, at the end of a hard-fought match against Jannik Sinner.
Today the litmus test, against one of the best clay court tennis players, defeated with a score of 7-6, 7-5 in an hour and 41 minutes. Match dominated by serves: Matteo doesn't leave even crumbs on his, while Tsitsipas' rounds are more competitive. The blue won the tiebreak of the first set with a score of 8-6 and in the second, in the twelfth game, he scored the break that decided the match.
Tomorrow the final against the French Halys. Berrettini, unlike today, starts as the favourite: this week he has already climbed 24 positions in the ATP ranking, in case of victory he would be back in the top 50 in the world.
