"Before criticizing Silvio Berlusconi someone should count to five ". These are the words with which Matteo Salvini , number one of the League, commented on the statements of the Minister of Regional Affairs of Forza Italia, Mariastella Gelmini , about the attitude of the blue leader on the war in Ukraine and on the responsibilities of Russia.
In fact, Gelmini, surprisingly, defined Berlusconi's position as "ambiguous" , who in recent days had explained that Kiev "must be convinced" to listen to Putin , stressing (and then correcting the shot) that "supplying weapons to Ukraine is equivalent to being cobelligerants " .
Now the words of Salvini arrive, on the sidelines of his participation in the political training school of the Lega in progress in Milan.
"With all due respect - said the secretary of the Carroccio - Silvio Berlusconi is Silvio Berlusconi , with everything he has done in his life. One may like it or not, but it leaves traces in the history of our country".
The counter-reply of Minister Gelmini was not long in coming: “I invite the secretary of the League, Matteo Salvini, to respect the internal debate of a party which - for the moment - is not his . In Forza Italia I put a political theme on a position that I understand well is not that of Salvini, but which concerns the pro- European and Atlanticist position of Forza Italia ”.
"A problem that obviously exists - added Gelmini - since the party had to intervene twice to clarify, regardless of me".
