Not just Cagliari: Bergamo also goes to the centre-left in the first round. Just like Pescara , for which this round was enough to re-elect the outgoing centre-right mayor.
Bari and Florence instead go to the run-off with the centre-left having a strong advantage. We also go back to the polls for the play-off in Caltanissetta, Campobasso (they were led by an M5S administration, now the centre-right has the advantage) and Potenza .
Challenge to the last vote in Perugia , with the center-left at almost 50% and an advantage of only 2 points.
This is the outcome of the vote which saw the renewal of almost 3700 municipal administrations, of the Regional Council in Piedmont - with the confirmation of the outgoing governor Cirio - and the European elections.
In Bergamo, after 10 years of administration by Giorgio Gori, the city remained in the hands of the center-left and the mayor is Elena Carnevali , 59 years old, former deputy of the Democratic Party.
FLORENCE AND BARI - The most anticipated challenges were obviously those of Florence and Bari. In the Tuscan capital, Sara Funaro, 48, candidate of the centre-left and outgoing councillor, had more votes than the German art historian and former director of the Uffizi Eike Schmidt which did not break through as expected but the match to elect Dario Nardella's successor will be played in two weeks. A good portion of support for Funaro was taken away by the IV candidate, Stefania Saccardi, who came third but who will now, in all likelihood, have her votes flow towards Funaro.
Even in Bari, the center-left candidate, Vito Leccese, 61, supported by the center-left, is far ahead of Fabio Romito, a Northern League member, 36, from the center-right. The M5S candidate Michele La Forgia has received good support: and had the Five Star Movement not decided not to participate in the primaries already called and to run alone, the victory of the centre-left would have been certain already in the first round.
THE OTHER CITIES – Massimo Mezzetti (centre-left) is elected mayor of Modena, Marco Massari (centre-left) is mayor of Reggio Emilia; in Cesena Enzo Lattuca was re-elected. These were all municipalities already led by the centre-left. In Ferrara the outgoing mayor, Alan Fabbri, supported by the centre-right, is reconfirmed, defeating the lawyer Fabio Anselmo, lawyer in the Cucchi case. In Forlì the outgoing Gian Luca Zattini (centre-right) is tending (for a very short time) to be reconfirmed, followed closely by the challenger Graziano Rinaldini (centre-left). Andrea Biancani (centre-left) reconfirmed in Pesaro. In Pontida, the symbolic location of the party, the outgoing mayoral candidate of the League, Pierguido Vanalli, was defeated by his challenger Davide Cantù, a young candidate from the civic list Viviamo Insieme Pontida.
FdI, however, was the first party with 33.77% in Stazzema, whose territory includes the hamlet of Sant'Anna, theater of the Nazi-fascist massacre of 12 August 1944, and has excellent results in the province of Grosseto: in Capalbio it exceeds 40%. Predappio, Mussolini's birthplace, remains center-right.
In Tuscany they hold the centre-left strongholds such as Livorno and Prato. Pesaro also confirms the centre-left administration. In Cremona we go to the ballot. Finally, Ascoli confirms the outgoing centre-right mayor.
