Francesca Lollobrigida will be the Italian standard-bearer in the closing ceremony of the XXIV Winter Olympic Games in Beijing 2022 scheduled for Sunday evening at the “Bird's Nest”, the stadium in the Chinese capital, starting at 8 pm local time (1 pm in Italy).

The blue in speed skating, silver in the 3,000 meters test of the Games, awarded with multiple titles at international level, was chosen by the president of Coni Giovanni Malagò, in agreement with the head of delegation Carlo Mornati.

"It is a fair recognition for what Francesca has done so far in Beijing and also a spur for what she will have to do in the next few days", explained Malagò. "Furthermore - he added - I think it is a necessary signal of attention to the Italian Ice Sports Federation and its president Andrea Gios, who have honored these Games by winning important successes for the Italia Team".

The Lollobrigida, 31 years old on 7 February, will carry the flag that the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella had delivered to Sofia Goggia at the Quirinale but which, due to her injury, was then entrusted to Michela Moioli for the parade of the opening ceremony on February 4, confirming an Olympics that is more than ever female.
