“Batteros - Sa Sardidade non este jogu”. This is the title of the song conceived and written by the actor Alessandro Pili, which will be presented on Monday 28 April, at 5:30 pm, in the Council Chamber of the Municipality of Cagliari. The meeting will be moderated by the journalist from L'Unione Sarda, Enrico Pilia .

«The poem “Batteros” was born after careful reflection after a question from my seven-year-old daughter Maria at the entrance to a school, who asked me «what the flag in the center between the Italian and the European flags represented» , Pili says.

The question triggers emotions and reflections in the author. The paleographic, diplomatic and Sardinian history studies he studied during his university career resurface in him and then he expresses all his creativity through his pen in a diary where he jots down five quatrains.

«The poem was born this summer, on an early afternoon in August, and is dedicated to my daughter Maria and my wife Silvia».

The author, in twenty-one verses, tells the story of the Four Moors, starting from the Sardinian-Iberian tradition, which he considers a symbol and creation of King Peter I of Aragon as a celebration of the victory of Alcoraz in 1096. Eight centuries of history, that is, from the arrival of the seal of the Four Moors in Sardinia following the Bull of Pope Boniface VIII in 1297, the year in which Sardinia nominally became part of the Crown of Aragon, following the continuity of the use of the flag with the advent of the Savoy, and then moving on to the proclamation of the banner of independence by Emilio Lussu and the founders of the independence party.

«The poem “Batteros” then had a natural evolution into a song thanks to the touch of Maestro Davide Guiso who, taking the verses, put them on a catchy and popular melody with the ultimate goal of ensuring that the song could reach as many people as possible and that by listening to it, Sardinians, and not, could reread the story and understand the true meaning of the flag of the Four Moors», continues Pili.

«Like the Quattro Mori, who arrived from Spain and became the symbol of Sardinianness, there are many personalities who, once arrived in Sardinia, identify with the culture and art of this Island and then become Sardinians in all respects, examples such as Gigi Riva, Fabrizio De Andrè, Pierangelo Bertoli . For this reason I wanted to pay homage to the song of Sardinia by a national artist who is now “Sardinian by adoption”, like Elio, aka Stefano Belisari, voice and leader of Elio e le Storie Tese. With his voice, on the notes of this poem, he gave us a beautiful gift».

"Batteros" was made possible thanks to the collaboration between the actor, the maestro Davide Guiso, Andrea Vadilonga, the musical group "Karma" composed of Guiso on guitar and Francesca Lai on vocals, the multi-instrumentalist Luca Schirru and the moral support of Maestro Nicola Loi.

The song will be available, starting from Monday 28 April, on Spotify and YouTube. During the presentation, the video clip of the song will be shown, made at the Saracen tower of 1400 located in Porto Corallo in the Municipality of Villaputzu and directed by Alessandro Pili.
