Barumini returns as the capital of Sardinian culture: the Cultural Tourism Expo kicks off.

Barumini is once again the capital of Sardinian culture: the 11th Cultural Tourism Expo in Sardinia will take place from November 7th to 10th . The program will focus on archaeology, art, identity, and sustainability. A new feature is planned: the "Barumini Award – Il Betilo for Culture."
THE EVENT – The event, organized and promoted by the Fondazione Barumini Sistema Cultura , will begin on November 7th at 10:00 a.m. and conclude on November 10th. It will take place in the most beautiful locations in Barumini, from the " Giovanni Lilliu " center to the Casa Zapata museum complex, which will host visitors, institutions, companies, operators, and scholars who will be able to attend exhibitions, meetings, workshops, tastings, and shows. Among the events will be B2B workshops , a meeting platform between the Sardinian tourism industry and 22 buyers from Italy, Europe, and North America, specializing in cultural and experiential tourism. The goals of the meetings are to create concrete connections, develop new markets, and strengthen Sardinia's positioning as a quality cultural tourism destination. Before the workshops, there will be an " educational tour " that will guide buyers in discovering Sardinia's tangible and intangible heritage, offering a firsthand experience of its landscapes, archaeological sites, and authentic flavors. Admission to all events is free.
THE PRIZE – The 2025 edition will feature the first " Barumini Prize – Il Betilo for Culture ," an award that celebrates those who contribute, through their commitment and talent, to disseminating knowledge, creativity, and the identity of their territories. The Prize will be awarded to nationally prominent figures, including Giuseppe Fioroni, Minister of the Republic and Vice President of the Toniolo Institute, and Davide Usai, Director General of the FAI.
THE PROGRAM – On November 7th, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, the award ceremony will take place at the Giovanni Lilliu Center. The event will continue at 4:00 pm with the presentation of the catalog "Nuragic Sardinia. Excavations and Discoveries between the 19th and 20th Centuries," edited by Gianfranca Salis. At 6:00 pm, the exhibition "Restitutions. From Looted to Restored Heritage" will open, an emotional journey through works and artifacts that symbolize cultural rebirth. On November 8th, the program begins at 10:00 am with lectures. The first, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, will be presented by Maria Antonietta Mongiu, entitled "Identity? Noun Feminine Plural." The presentation of the book "The Treasure Chest – Stories, Facts, Contexts, People" by Luigi Lilliu will continue until 12:30 pm. In the afternoon, from 4 to 6 pm, the conference entitled “Conserving the Planet: UNESCO Natural Sites as a Model of Sustainability” will take place.
From November 7th to 8th, morning and afternoon, the "Giovanni Lilliu" center will host workshops for schools and the public , including " Slow Food ," a journey through taste and food awareness, and educational workshops with hands-on, creative experiences to discover culture firsthand. On November 10th at 9:30 a.m., the Casa Zapata museum complex will host a presentation of the master's degree program in "Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage," organized by the University of Cagliari and the Archaeological Superintendency of Cagliari. Throughout the four days of the Expo, visitors will be able to see various stands, encompassing three major thematic sections: the custodians of history: cultural heritage; the authentic soul of artistic craftsmanship; and the flavors of the region: excellent food and wine. The Expo will be a fascinating journey of discovery through the island's millennia-old history, where cultural experience becomes a driver of development and dialogue between communities.
