Barumini is preparing to pay homage to one of the most important figures in Sardinian culture: Professor Giovanni Lilliu. On the anniversary of his birth, Thursday 13 March (from 10:30 am) the Fondazione Barumini Sistema Cultura is organizing a special event to celebrate his scientific and human legacy with the restyling of the permanent exhibition dedicated to him.

The event will be a moment of reflection and sharing to retrace Professor Lilliu's commitment to the study and valorization of the Nuragic heritage, with particular attention to the Su Nuraxi complex, the UNESCO site that thanks to his research has gained international recognition.

A new setup to look to the future.

The initiative includes an introductory meeting in which the importance of Lilliu's work for Barumini and for Sardinia as a whole will be remembered. This will be followed by the inauguration of the restyling of the exhibition, designed to make the story of his work even more accessible and engaging.

"This is an important day for Sardinian culture and archaeology," emphasizes Emanuele Lilliu, president of the Barumini Foundation. "With the restyling of the exhibition, we want to enhance his work to the fullest, making it more accessible to new generations. A significant step in this direction is the launch of a bibliographic section dedicated to his studies, to offer new tools for in-depth study to scholars and enthusiasts."

The event will be attended by:

  • Michele Zucca, Mayor of Barumini
  • Emanuele Lilliu, President of the Barumini Foundation
  • Simonetta Angiolillo, former professor of Archaeology at the University of Cagliari
  • Cecilia and Caterina Lilliu, heirs of the memory of Giovanni Lilliu

It will be an opportunity to reaffirm the value of research and the protection of historical heritage as keys to building the future. Professor Lilliu, with his pioneering work, has left a legacy that continues to inspire scholars and enthusiasts. Barumini, in his name, confirms itself once again as a place of culture and innovation.
