Towards the approval, already this evening, of the budget variation of 630 million euros. The Chamber is proceeding quickly and has already given the green light to article 1 regarding the measures on healthcare. Ok, therefore, to the 162 million allocated to cover the deficit of the Local Health Authorities. Among the important measures, also the 15 million passed unanimously for the equalization of wages in healthcare companies, and the 2.3 million for non-medical scholarships.

During the debate, there was also a passage on the Businco oncology center in Cagliari. Speaking on an amendment from the opposition, later withdrawn, the Health Councilor Armando Bartolazzi explained that «we need to get it into our heads that Sardinia lacks an oncology reference center. The island is the only region in Italy, together with Calabria, that does not have an oncology IRCCS. Let's reflect on this: having an IRCCS means entering the "Alliance against Cancer" network, and it means that if a drug for cancer immunotherapy against tumors comes out today, this organization has it the next day». And in particular on Businco: «It's easy to say that it is the oncology excellence of Sardinia, but Businco does not exist from a functional point of view, it is outside of the Alliance against Cancer». The councilor recalled that «access to innovative cancer drugs today in Sardinia stands at 4%, compared to the national average of 50%. It is understandable how a Sardinian with cancer takes a plane and goes to Milan, where there are four oncology IRCCS» . Therefore, he concludes, «we must wake up, demand an IRCCS in Sardinia, and strengthen the Businco in Cagliari, which as an oncology structure does not actually exist, it is a hologram. Let's fight together, it would be a success for everyone».
