"Bandidos e Balentes. The unwritten code" by Sardinian director Fabio Manuel Mulas triumphs in New York at the Universal Film Festival, an international review of independent cinema.
The film, which stars non-professional actors, won recognition in the action-thriller category.
Fabio Manuel Mulas, 42 years old from Bono, has already been awarded for this film in other reviews. "Bandidos e Balentes" was the only Italian opera selected at the Festival.
"A great personal satisfaction but also a recognition for the world of Sardinian art and culture", explains the director.
The film was shot in the Sardinian hinterland: the story is set in the 1950s, on a wild and beautiful island, and revolves around conflicts and feuds.
"This victory was a great surprise for me - continues Mulas - in the final there was also the competition of two films that had been nominated at the last Oscar". Then, the special dedication "to all my staff, to who contributed to the making of the film and to the Sardinian people, with their historical, cultural heritage and inestimable values, but at an international level still to be discovered ".
