Polling stations open from this morning at 7 in Monserrato for the choice of the mayor.

Today we vote until 11pm; tomorrow, Monday 24 June, from 7am to 3pm, then the counting will begin. The 12pm turnout stood at 14.7%, down five points compared to the first round. At 7pm, however, the percentage was just over 28%.

The challenge in the runoff is between the outgoing mayor Tomaso Locci and Valentina Picciau.

Two weeks ago none of the four mayoral candidates had exceeded the 50% threshold. The candidate who came closest was Locci, supported by the Monserrato Libera, Monserrato Futura and Monserrato Metropolitana lists, with 40.2%.

Picciau, supported by Movimento 5 Stelle, Progressisti-La Svolta, Pauli Monserrato, Uniti per Monserrato had stopped at 21.5%.
