Only one Italian player, PSG's Gianluigi Donnarumma, is among the 30 nominees for the 2025 Ballon d'Or, which will be awarded on September 22nd in Paris. Three players play for Serie A clubs: Napoli's Scott McTominay and the Inter Milan duo of Denzel Dumfries and Lautaro Martínez.

There are nine candidates who play for the European champion PSG : Nuno Mendes, Hakimi, Doué, Dembélé, João Neves, Fabián Ruiz, Vitinha, Kvaratskhelia and, indeed, Donnarumma.
