"Forza Italia wants the Strait of Messina Bridge to become one of the major projects designed to foster the growth of Calabria, Sicily, and all of Italy. The funds allocated for its construction must not be cut and used to compensate for damage caused by bad weather . There are many proposals on this matter that will be examined by the government. We are opposed to using the bridge funds." This was stated in X by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.
"The bridge must be built," the minister explained from Brussels, after a question about the use of funds for the regions affected by the storm. "Then perhaps we can make some advances , we'll see what can be done: there are many proposals and they will all be evaluated, including that one. But first we need to quantify the damage, understand how much is needed and where: all the proposals are useful."
"The government is mobilizing extraordinarily; the €100 million is just an initial step . I'll be in Sicily, Calabria, and Sardinia on Monday to meet with businesses that have suffered damage and need support, as we did in Emilia-Romagna," Tajani concluded.
