Now it's official: as reported by the Cagliari website, Paulo Azzi is a new rossoblù player. He arrives from Modena on a permanent basis and has signed a contract until 30 June 2025, with the option of an extension in favor of the club for another season.
Born in Bragança Paulista, in the state of São Paulo, born in 1994, Paulo Daniel Dentello Azzi grew up in football in Brazil, before joining the Citadel at the age of 19. On 15 March 2014 he made his debut in Serie B against Como and in the following round he scored his first professional goal in a 4-0 win against Padova.
Thus from the Cagliari website: «Fast, physically strong, he is 188 cm tall, flexible from a tactical point of view: employed in his career both as a high and low lateral, his right foot is preferred, in the offensive phase he loves to concentrate from the left to skip the man, look for the shot on goal or on occasion provide inviting balls to the attackers ».
After the purchase of Azzi, Cagliari is now looking for the other two profiles requested by Claudio Ranieri to make the team more competitive and try to chase, if not the first two places, Serie A through a good playoff placement.
We need a central defender of weight and a midfielder of great physicality, capable, in the case, also of taking on directing duties.
Diesse Bonato would have some names on the agenda, which should guarantee the rossoblùs also the change of form (from the bankruptcy 4-3-3 of Liverani to the more classic 4-4-2 of the Testaccio coach). However, the indiscretions that Gyomber from Salerno would like to go to Cagliari nor those of a negotiation for the Florentine Benassi or - for now - on the return of Nainggolan are not confirmed.
In short, Giulini's club plays hole cards in this phase of the transfer market, to avoid seeing Ranieri's suggested objectives fade away.
Meanwhile, in view of Saturday's match at 2 pm against Faragò and Cerri's Como, there would be a few hundred tickets left for sold out.
