The Constitutional Court has admitted the interventions ad opponendum of Veneto, Piedmont and Lombardy against the appeals on questions of constitutionality regarding the law on differentiated autonomy presented by the regions of Sardinia, Puglia, Tuscany and Campania.

Shortly before the decision on the dispute between the centre-left and centre-right regions, the governor of Lombardy , Attilio Fontana, intervened.

"Yesterday (during the meeting with Minister Roberto Calderoli, ed.) when we got into the merits of the individual competences and requests that the various Regions presented, I would have liked all those who denigrate this reform to be present because, perhaps, they would have realized that all the things they say are absolutely unfounded ," said Fontana, explaining that the one on autonomy is a reform "that only goes in the direction of modernizing and making our country more efficient and that does not create any kind of division or discrimination against anyone. Yesterday, addressing and examining the merits, - concluded Fontana - even the most skeptical would have realized it."

"With this decision - declared the president of the Veneto Region Luca Zaia - the Consulta has recognized the interest of the Veneto in defending the law on autonomy and the right to see its reasons represented in the process . It is an important step because we have immediately supported that the law on differentiated autonomy is a law that must be defended in the awareness that it represents the start of a new course for our country . A decision - concluded Zaia - that confirms the correctness of the will of the Veneto Region in defending a law that outlines the procedure aimed at guaranteeing greater forms of autonomy" .
