"There is much talk of differentiated autonomy but little or no attention is paid to what concerns Sardinia the most. Namely, the fate of the autonomy of the Island in the new structure of Italian regionalism that will see a substantial weakening of the regions with special statutes". The Sardinian Reformers start from this assumption, and today they illustrated a motion that commits the President of the Region and the Council to work on the implementation of the special statute , in particular with reference to the issue of air and sea continuity with the aim of solving the problem of accessibility to Sardinia in a structural way.

In general, point out the group leader in the Regional Council Umberto Ticca and the former councilor Michele Cossa, « the Sardinian Statute, while guaranteeing a wide autonomy, has not produced the desired results and Sardinia is unable to emerge from the condition of a region with a delay in development ». The real problem, they argue, is that while other regions such as Trentino, in over 75 years have obtained almost 200 implementing regulations, Sardinia has seen only 32 approved (8 in the last twenty years).

According to Ticca, "this is the right phase of national politics to do what has not been done in 76 years of autonomy. Now Sardinia can really commit to filling the entire gap that exists compared to other regions ." Cossa emphasizes that "modifying the Statute is extremely complicated, but there is the instrument of implementing rules that the legislator has provided to adapt the Statute to current times. We ask the Regional Council to approve guidelines to give to the Executive to start a tough discussion with the Government on the most important issues."

At a later stage, the Reformers could also promote a popular petition whose organizational structure will be entrusted to Cossa himself.
