Max Verstappen takes pole position for Saturday's Sprint Race which will define the starting grid for the Austrian Grand Prix, scheduled for Sunday at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg.

The Dutch driver on Red Bull mocked the Ferraris with a great leap in the last sector, Leclerc beaten by just 29 thousandths must be satisfied with the second time in front of his teammate Sainz. Fourth for Perez's Red Bull, who, however, was penalized and will start 13th.

Out on the first stroke of Q3 Lewis Hamilton , who even seemed to be fighting for pole after two excellent initial heats. The seven-time world champion lost control of his Mercedes and crashed into the protective barriers. It will therefore take place ninth. Same fate for his teammate George Russell , who spun at the last corner. But he manages to keep fifth place thanks to the first time trial of Q3, ahead of Ocon's Alpine, and will start fourth thanks to the disqualification of Perez. Behind Ocon le Haas of Magnussen and Mick Schumacher, then Alonso ninth ahead of Hamilton. Gasly will start tenth.

The Ferraris are still ready to fight in the Sprint Race in order to start in front of everyone on the grid on Sunday. Also because the Sprint Race is also worth a few points that can be used for the World Championship .
