Jannik Sinner has been placed in the Borg group for the round-robin tournament of the ATP Finals, which begins Sunday in Turin. He'll face Alexander Zverev, Ben Shelton, and the qualifier between Felix Auger Aliassime and Lorenzo Musetti (the Italian must win the Athens tournament to overtake the Canadian).
The other top seed, Carlos Alcaraz, leads the Jimmy Connors group. The Spaniard will have to contend with Novak Djokovic, if he decides to withdraw and travels to Turin, Taylor Fritz, and Alex De Minaur .
The draw conducted this morning is heavily influenced by the uncertainty surrounding Djokovic . If he withdraws, the ninth-ranked player, either Auger Aliassime or Musetti, will be drawn in Alcaraz's group, while the eighth-ranked player will remain in Sinner's group. If Musetti makes it, it would be the first time in history that two Italians have appeared in the "tournament of the masters."
The stakes, already high in this tournament between the top eight players in 2025, are even higher this year because the world number one is also in play . Alcaraz is the favorite, needing only three wins to secure it. Sinner, on the other hand, must win the tournament and hope the Spanish champion wins no more than two matches . But the fact that the South Tyrolean is still in the running despite missing three months with four Masters 1000s up for grabs is already an exceptional achievement.
